Owen Elsley was born in Newcastle and moved to Sydney in 2011 to study a Bachelor of Science at Sydney University. As a vocalist, Owen’s credits include The Song Company (since joining the Young Artist Program in 2014), the Choir of St James’ Church, King St, Sydney Antiphony (as a founding member and co-director), Pinchgut Opera, Sydney Chamber Choir, Cantillation and the Canberra Bach Society. Owen’s work as a composer has been commissioned and performed by Gondwana Choirs (including a 2017 commission that was premiered in the Sydney Opera House by Gondwana Choirs and the Vienna Boys’ Choir), The Choir of St James’ Church King St, The Leichhardt Espresso Chorus, The Hunter Singers, Moorambilla Voices and the Combined RSCM Children’s Choir. In 2016, he was the winner of the Liturgical Division of the Australian Catholic University’s Isabel Menton Composition Award and in 2018 was awarded the Willgoss Choral Composition Prize. in 2019, Owen moved to the UK to study a Master of Music in Choral Studies, which he completed in 2020. Since his move there, he has sung with the Choir of King's College, Cambridge, a position in which he continues to work into 2021.
