SongCo Lab Metro
Sing from the source!
The Song Company and The Academy of St James’ present a series of two-hour workshops on singing from early music manuscripts centred around The Eton Choirbook on Monday/Tuesday evenings in October/November 2018 in the Sydney CBD.
These free SongCo Lab Metro events are for professional/pro-am singers and other musicians keen to develop their engagement with early music by singing (or playing) direct from the manuscript sources or facsimiles. The seven workshops are led by the Artistic Director of The Song Company, Antony Pitts, with an additional St James' Institute lecture by Professor Stephen Darlington. Both conductors have made critically-acclaimed albums of music from The Eton Choirbook with TONUS PEREGRINUS on Naxos and the Choir of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford on Avie Records (set of five albums). Copies of the DIAMM facsimile of The Eton Choirbook (not required to take part in the workshops) will be available at a discount for participants.
To register your interest, please fill in and submit the form below. Please note that this is an advanced course: we welcome applications from singers and other musicians with considerable experience of singing/playing early music and sight-reading ability. There is no charge for singers participating in the workshops; however there is an observer charge for the open rehearsals and for Professor Darlington's lecture (with a 50% discount for singer participants).
